Children's Services

Children Services Vision

We will keep children safe, improve life chances of children by, influencing planning and delivery of services to improve access, and ensure early identification of concerns for children and parents and carers to enable fast effective intervention.

Being Healthy

Within the context of our universal services for all children (including children’s centres and extended schools), we will look to ensure that resources are targeted at those children who are most vulnerable to poor health outcomes in order that we address the widening gap in life expectations (quality and quantity) for the whole population.
Within our universal health services we will target resources to those children and their parents and carers who are the most vulnerable in terms of health outcomes.

Services will be delivered through a diverse range of initiatives including children’s centres, extended services and the healthy schools programme, priority will be given to achieving targets around reducing teenage conceptions, increasing positive mental health, emotional
well-being, child-hood obesity and improved sexual health with a clear emphasis on closing the gap in terms of life expectations.

Staying Safe

We will continue to use the child concern model, increase information exchange and the common assessment framework through agreed partnership process; we will work with the Safeguarding Board to ensure prevention strategies are adhered to and protect those at risk.
