- Level 4: Bariatric Surgery
Direct referrals for bariatric surgery will not be accepted. All patients being considered for surgery must complete and comply with the specialist weight management service. The specialist weight management Multi Disciplinary Team will then determine which patients are suitable for surgery and request funding through prior approvals. The criteria for level 3 are as below:
BMI of 45 or above with Diabetes
BMI of 50 or above with Hypertension, Sleep Apnoea, Dyslipidaemia or Diabetes
