Public Health, NHS Walsall are commissioning Food Dudes, a behaviour change programme for healthy eating, as part of our work towards reducing childhood obesity and improving the health of Walsall’s children and their families. With over 20 years of research behind it Food Dudes is consistently effective in encouraging children to eat fruit and vegetables at both school and at home and develop a liking for these foods.
Food Dudes is aimed at children aged 4-11 years and so far, funding has been identified for 3000 children in Walsall for 2011/12, including some special schools. Our aim in Public Health is for all schools in Walsall to receive this intervention over the next few years, but this will require additional funding from partners.
