Vital Signs Performance Review 2008/09

This document is designed to share information on our performance during 2008/09 against the nationally defined measures used to monitor and assess overall performance of NHS organisations across the country. These measures, referred to as ‘Vital Signs’, have been identified and defined by the Department of Health as part of the Operating Framework for the NHS in England.

Publication of performance helps inform local discussions with all stakeholders to support improved services. The availability of transparent performance data is essential in order to facilitate an informed debate with partners, service users and the wider
community on the priorities and service improvements for the coming financial year (2010/11).

We use this performance data to both review how we delivered against targets during 2008/09 and in target setting and review for the coming years. To support this, our 2009/10 Operating Plan outlines the main actions and investments being made to deliver the National and Local Priorities for the
people of Walsall.
