Specialist teams from Walsall Cancer and Information Support Services (CISS) will be targeting OAP’s at Walsall Football Club to highlight a new National Programme for bowel cancer screening. Fans will be given advice and information, this Saturday 24 Feburary, about bowel cancer and the importance of going for a screening when called between the ages of 60 - 69.
Sally Killian, Manager of Walsall's CISS, Walsall Teaching Primary Care Trust, said: “We are delighted to offer supporters information about the new NHS bowel cancer screening programme. We will be giving out lots of information and advice and encouraging people to take part in this life saving screening programme which is anticipated to save more than 1200 lives each year.”
Supporters will be given leaflets detailing what bowel cancer is, who is at risk, how the screening test works and what happens after the test. Staff will also be available to talk to on a one to one basis.
