Footy fans advised how they could save £450

At Walsall Football Club this Saturday 10 March, Walsall Teaching Primary Care Trust (Walsall tPCT) will be informing fans how they could save around £450. A Breastfeeding Co-ordinator will be handing out leaflets detailing the savings pregnant or breastfeeding partners of fans could make if they breastfeed instead of buying formula milk.

Caroline Mansell, Breastfeeding Co-ordinator for Walsall tPCT, said: “The financial saving is not the only benefit to breastfeeding. It has long term health benefits to both mother and child. We will be handing out flyers at the match letting fans know who to contact for information if they know anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding and wants to find out what support is available in Walsall

Roy Whalley, Chief Executive of Walsall Football Club, said: “We are always happy to welcome members of Walsall tPCT to Bescot Stadium. As always, they will be giving out valuable information to our supporters which could not only save them money but also have a positive affect on their children’s health."

As well as advice and information, fans will also be given wrist bands promoting the motto ‘Breastfeeding Makes a Difference’. The bands which, have national Breastfeeding Support line numbers on them, are designed to help mums remember which side they last fed their baby on.

There are various Breastfeeding Support Groups in Walsall that offer information on a range of issues such as breastfeeding, expression and storage of breast milk, health eating and weaning, breastfeeding while returning to work and opportunities to get involved with training, family activities and health promotion events.
