Breastfeeding Support Group is launched

Mums in Walsall can get breastfeeding help and advice in the town centre thanks an additional support group launched this month. The Shhh Breastfeeding Support Group, which is supported by Walsall Teaching Primary Care Trust (Walsall tPCT), is aimed at pregnant women, mums and their children. It offers guidance and information on issues such as breastfeeding, continuing to breastfeed when returning to work and weaning.

Caroline Mansell, Breastfeeding Co-ordinator for Walsall tPCT, said: ‘Health workers and women in Walsall have worked very hard to set up and run breastfeeding peer support groups over the past five years. The tPCT is leading on the establishment of more groups in partnership with other organisations and the community, so that women can get the ongoing breastfeeding support they need in all areas of Walsall.’

Shhh Breastfeeding Support Group will be meeting the first and third Tuesday of the month at St Paul’s The Crossing in Walsall between 12.30 and 1.45pm. There will also be a Little Lambs playgroup held from 1.45pm till 3.00pm where parents, grandparents or carers can bring along their babies and toddlers and take part in play time, craft and music activities.

There is a network of Breastfeeding Support Groups across Walsall. For more information call Caroline Mansell on 01922 444038.
