Patients at Little Bloxwich Day Hospice are going on a ‘summer holiday’ from Blackpool to the Bahamas courtesy of the staff at NHS Walsall Community Health. On Friday 25 June the hospice will be transformed into a typical British seaside scene in one section and a tropical theme in another.
The theme is inspired by the patients, some of whom years ago went to the Bahamas while others were regular holiday goers to Blackpool.
Tracey Grinell, Little Bloxwich Day Hospice Manager, said: “This will be a suitably splendid way of celebrating the summer. We wanted to take the patients back to holidays of days gone by to bring back some happy memories.”
The whole hospice will be decorated in a sea and sand background with the Blackpool section containing candyfloss and a Punch and Judy show, and the Bahamas side with palm trees and tropical fruit drinks. The tower organ will be playing but the music will also have a Caribbean twist.
The staff hope up to 80 patients will be able to attend their summer event.
