New book shares local mums’ inspiration

A new book detailing the experiences of a group of Walsall mums whose children have Downs Syndrome or Autism is due to be launched later this week.

“Voices to be Heard” is a collection of inspirational stories following the emotional highs and lows of local families living with the reality of children with a disability.
The book has been produced as a training tool for those working in children’s  services as well as a support for other parents and carers.

NHS Walsall Community Health Specialist Health Visitor Diane Faulkner said:  “This collection gives us a rare insight into the lives of families and their roller coaster journey.  They write not only of heartache and personal struggles but also of tremendous achievements and personal rewards in the triumph against adversity.”
The book launch is due to take place at Walsall Child Development Centre, Coal Heath Lane, Shelfield on Friday, 9 July between 10.30am and 12 noon.
