Pelsall Health Care Needs Assessment

Walsall Teaching Primary Care Trust (Walsall tPCT) is to announce on Thursday the outcomes of the Pelsall Health Care Needs Assessment. The report confirms the need for a health care development and it is hoped that the strategic response to the assessment will embrace a broader range of activities and services similar to the Blakenall Meadow community development.

Paul Jennings, Chief Executive for Walsall tPCT, said: “Getting health care close to where people live is one of the key priorities of Walsall tPCT. This Assessment demonstrates a clear cut need and its my intention that we should work to fulfil it.”

Phil Griffin, Associate Director for Primary Care Commissioning for Walsall tPCT, said: “There will be a range of consultation meetings over the next few months which will influence the vision for the development and ultimately its design. We are hoping that the planning and building work will be completed by early 2010 with the building coming into full use towards the end of that year. This is fantastic news for the Pelsall community and will significantly enhance the quality of local health and social care services.”

The Strategic Development Plan outlines proposals for a development of a Primary Care Health Centre in Pelsall. The tPCT with its partners are aspiring to provide local access to Council Services, a Children’s Centre, modern Library Facilities, Citizens Advice Bureau, Pharmacy and a range of Primary Care medical services all under one roof. The proposed project will provide the opportunity to deliver modern and accessible services to an area of Walsall with proven Health and Social Care needs.
