Professor Sam Ramaiah, Walsall’s Director of Public Health and Medical Director of NHS Walsall, has died suddenly.
Professor Ramaiah, who was 62, made an outstanding contribution to the health and well-being of the people of Walsall for nearly 30 years.
Professor Ramaiah died yesterday (Monday) evening at Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield. He was taken there from his home after suffering what is believed to have been a heart attack.
Denise McLellan, Chief Executive of NHS Walsall, said: “Our first thoughts at this very difficult time are with Sam’s family who have lost a devoted husband and father. He is also a huge loss to NHS Walsall and the health service generally.”
