Walsall pensioner turns ash into cash

A Walsall pensioner who saved nearly £2000 when she quit smoking is the new face of Walsall’s Stop Smoking Service (WSSS) bus campaign. The campaign which features the motto ‘I quit and I saved nearly £2000’ can be seen on 45 bus rears and 25 posters inside during December 06 and January 07.

Kath Fieldhouse, Walsall pensioner, said: “I was smoking over 20 cigarettes a day and I just couldn’t afford it. I decided to stop and since then I have saved nearly £2000 and redecorated my house with the money.”

Walsall Stop Smoking Services offer help and support to anyone who is considering stopping. One to one and group support are available at various times and locations throughout Walsall. Drop in sessions are being run every Saturday in January between 10 am and 12 noon at St Pauls, The Crossings,
