Walsall raises game in mental health, with solid performance across the board

27 July 2005

Walsall Teaching Primary Care Trust was today awarded two stars for mental health and two stars for other primary care work in the annual national reviews. This is an improvement from one star in mental health and two for other primary care last year, and is the Primary Care Trust's best performance since it was established in 2002.

Paul Jennings, Chief Executive, said today: "People have worked really hard to raise our game in mental health. I want to thank everyone on the team.

"Although our overall rating has stayed the same for primary care, with a solid two stars, we have actually dramatically improved a lot of what we do. This is most noticeable in the brand new, state of the art health centres which we have opened at Pinfold, in Bentley, in Darlaston, in Harden and now in Blakenall as part of the Blakenall Village.

"This has been a year of solid improvement, and we have been awarded above average ratings across the board. But our ambition is excellence, and we intend to push further over the next twelve months."
