Sally Killian, Manager of Walsall's Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS) for Walsall Teaching Primary Care Trust, said: “Testicular Cancer is a subject which people don’t really talk about. We want to change this and encourage men to check their testicles regularly for lumps and not to feel embarrassed about going to the doctors if they are worried about anything.”
Testicular Cancer is the most common form of cancer in men aged between 15 and 45. The CISS Team are aiming to encourage people to do simple checks on their testicles and look out for the early signs of the disease such as a hard lump, swelling or enlargement, increased firmness, pain or discomfort or any unusual differences between one testical and the other.
For more information then call CISS on 0800 783 9050 or 01922 775038 or email cissenquiries@walsall.nhs.uk.
Fans who have signed up to 64446 Health will also receive a personal reminder about how to check themselves. As usual, their monthly free text message from the NHS will arrive shortly before the match begins. People who are not yet signed up can join by simply texting the word 'Health' to 64446. Aside from the cost of their initial call, at their standard text rate, users are not charged for the service. They can stop receiving txt messages at any time by texting 'Finish' to 64446.
