Sign up for community safety messages and enter a top prize draw
Walsall residents who sign up to receive regular community safety messages will be in the running to win an iPod or a pair of tickets to a Walsall FC home match.
Safer Walsall Partnership is encouraging people to text in and receive regular updates about what is being done in the borough to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and advice on steps they can take to avoid becoming a victim themselves.
The partnership is made up of various agencies including Walsall Council, West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service, Walsall Housing Group, NHS Walsall, Staffordshire and West Midlands Probation and New Horizons.
Everyone who signs up to the service will be entered into a prize draw to win an iPod nano or a pair of tickets to watch Walsall FC in action at the Banks' Stadium together with a parking pass and entry to the Swifts Executive Lounge.
Councillor Zahid Ali, Chairman of Safer Walsall Partnership, said: "Statistics show that crime and anti-social behaviour in Walsall is falling but we are always looking at ways in which we can make more people aware of our community safety messages and keep them informed of what we are doing.
"Anyone who signs up to the text message service will receive a number of updates throughout the year and will automatically be entered into the free prize draw."
To sign up to the messaging service text the word SAFER followed by your name to 64446. The service is entirely free but joining costs the normal text rate. This is a one-off charge.
