Official opening of dental practices in Walsall

Chief Dental Officer officially opens dental practices and mobile dental unit in Walsall

 

The drive to boost community dental services across every neighbourhood in Walsall has gained an official seal of approval from the country’s top dental chief.

 

Barry Cockcroft, Chief Dental Officer visited three Walsall dental practices and the mobile dental unit to officially open them today. The practices, Wisdom Dental Care in Pheasey, Aldridge House Dental Surgery in Aldridge and Goodall Dental Practice in Walsall town centre were delighted that Mr Cockcroft has taken time out to visit and officially open their dental practices.

 

Accompanying Mr Cockcroft was Phil Griffin, Associate Director of Primary Care Contracting, NHS Walsall who said today, “Its an honor to be able to accompany Barry Cockcroft, Chief Dental Officer and show him the excellent dental services that we have here in Walsall”.

 

The day started with the official opening of the mobile dental unit. The unit gives free dental checks to Walsall residents at various locations, such as when they are out shopping, going to college or attending their local community centre.

 

Mr Cockcroft then opened Wisdom Dental Care Practice, Collingwood Drive, Pheasey and met Mr and Mrs Duggal, dentists at the practice.  After meeting the staff he was taken on a tour around the practice, which has recently expanded into the neighbouring unit. Fiona Perks, Practice Manager, Wisdom Dental Practice said today. “We are really pleased that Mr Cockcroft has come to see our dental practice. We were so excited to show him our newly extended premises and the Pheasey area where we work.”

 

Following on, Mr Cockcroft travelled to Aldridge to meet staff at Aldridge House Dental Practice owned by Rodericks Limited. Mr Shalin Mehra, Managing Director, Rodericks Limited said today, “I would like to say what an honor and privilege it is to have been chosen by NHS Walsall to provide NHS dentistry to the to people of Aldridge. We hope to provide a service that you want, need and will be proud of”.  Mr Cockcroft saw some of the new facilities at the practice, such as the digital x-ray, that benefits both staff and the people of Aldridge during their dental care.

 

Finally, he visited Goodall Dental Practice in Walsall town centre, where Mr Gill and his staff warmly welcomed Mr Cockcroft. Mr Gill, dentist said today, “We are a small friendly practice, and it is great to welcome the national head of our service to Walsall”.
