NHS Walsall Dentists from across the borough have been receiving training this week at Walsall Manor Hospital on how to use Automatic External Defibrillators (AED). In total 34 dentist practices will house a new defibrillator as part of a move to get AEDs into different types of medical facilities. The idea is that residents will know that should they themselves, a family member, friend or just a passer by suddenly have a heart attack the nearest NHS Dentist will have the equipment to give them the emergency help they need.
Colin Bromage, Dental Practice Advisor for NHS Walsall, said: ‘This is going to save lives. If someone has a heart attack on the street near a dental practice, it will be one more place they can get life-saving defibrillation quickly.’
