Walsall Teaching Primary Care Trust (Walsall tPCT) Health Trainers are holding their glasses high to celebrate the success of their new programme and wish Walsall residents a happy and healthy New Year. The service which, was launched 2 January 2007, has already proven to be highy successful, with residents booking up for one to one sessions, where they will be offered support and motivation to change their lifestyle through healthy eating, physical activity and qutting smoking.
Sue Morgan, Health Trainer Manager said "We are very pleased with the response that we are getting. Walsall residents seem to be ready to take action to improve their health and increase their chances of a long and healthy life."
The service is available in Pleck, Palfrey, Darlaston, St Matthews, Bentley, Goscote and Blakenall areas. Health trainers spend up to an hour with each client and work to identify what small changes can be made to improve their health, even if it is something as simple as walking the dog or having fruit with their cereal in a morning. They develop plans, set goals and offer ongoing support to help Walsall residents maintain their changes.
