As NHS Walsall develops its approach to World Class Commissioning, we are seeking to procure high quality, evidence based, dental services to improve the oral health of the people of Walsall. We currently have the following opportunities to be implemented from February 2010 onwards:

Opportunity A – New Dental Practice

A new Dental practice to deliver 10,000 UDAs per annum in the East of Walsall in one of the following areas: Pheasey Park Farm, Streetly or Paddock.  The provider will be responsible for securing and managing a premises solution for the delivery of the service.  To aid this, providers may be eligible for NHS Walsall capital funding.  The contract will be for 3 years with the option to extend for a further 3 years and the new practice will be expected to be up and running from February, 2010 or earlier if possible.

Potential providers will be short-listed to invitation to tender stage on the basis of having appropriate registration to practice, on their track record in providing quality dental services and meeting activity targets, and demonstration of their ability to implement a new dental practice within the required timescales and within the designated area which will deliver the required activity levels. It is anticipated that a minimum of 5 providers will be invited to tender for this opportunity.

Award of business will be made on the most economically advantageous bid.

Opportunity B – Additional Dental Activity

Award of approximately 12,000 UDAs of additional activity per annum (by way of variation of existing contracts or award of a new contract) to be delivered within the Walsall Borough with effect from March 2010.  It is envisaged that this activity will be awarded between a number of providers and providers will requested to bid for the number of UDAs they are able provide.

The additional activity will be awarded for a period of 3 years and the number of UDAs may be subject to amendment.

Potential providers will be short-listed to invitation to tender stage on the basis of having appropriate registration to practice, on their track record in providing quality dental services and meeting activity targets, and demonstration of their capacity to undertake additional activity within the required timescales and within the Borough of Walsall. It is anticipated that a minimum of 5 providers will be invited to tender for this opportunity.

Award of business will be made on the most economically advantageous bid.

Opportunity C – Additional Dental Activity

NHS Walsall is seeking to appoint nominated dental service providers to undertake dental activity additional to the above (by way of variation of existing contracts or award of a new contract) to be delivered within the Walsall Borough which may arise during the period April 2010 to March 2011.  Such activity may be awarded on a period (e.g. 3 years) or short-term basis according to need.

Potential providers will be short-listed to invitation to tender stage on the basis of having appropriate registration to practice, on their track record in providing quality dental services and meeting activity targets, and on their ability to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in demand within the required timescales and within the Borough of Walsall. It is anticipated that a minimum of 5 providers will be invited to tender for this opportunity.
