Improving Working Lives (IWL)

In the tPCT we are committed to improving the working lives of all staff. Our commitment is:

The tPCT’s commitment:

To improve constantly the working environment, so that staff have opportunities for development, are involved in decision-taking, able to work flexible hours, are supported in their home-related responsibilities, able to balance their work and life outside work – and feel secure, respected and valued.

By helping staff to achieve a good work-life balance, we can develop higher standards of health care for Walsall residents.

Quality

All NHS organisations have pledged to improve the working lives of their staff and are required to demonstrate that they are implementing the highest standard (called ‘Practice Plus’) across all staff groups.

In December 2003, the tPCT achieved ‘Practice’ standard.  We are now working towards ‘Practice Plus’ standard and will be assessed in December 2005.
