Pay and Conditions of Service

There has never been a better time to consider careers in the NHS. Services are being modernised and expanded and there is a need for more staff to provide excellent care. New employment policies are making the NHS a better place to work and to build successful careers.

The NHS offers wide opportunities for career development, and pay and conditions have improved steadily. All NHS employers offer:

·         A minimum of 27 days annual leave rising to 30 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years of NHS Service.  Changing between NHS employers does not effect the way that this is calculated.  This means that you can change NHS employers and your accrued length of service is used to calculate your annual leave.

·         Paid sick leave increasing with length of service

·         A range of other employment benefits
